Red wine Aalto 22

Description

VINTAGE:

We began the agricultural year with a water deficit from the previous season. Autumn passed with mild temperatures and little rainfall. We began the year 2022 with higher than normal temperatures, and it was not until mid-January that the night temperatures dropped sharply, with heavy frosts and sunny midday. This situation lasted until the end of February. Between January and February, rainfall was very low (less than 20 liters).

March said goodbye with instability, cool weather and some rains that came to mitigate the drought suffered by the field. Spring began with a drop in temperatures, finally delaying budbreak and allowing us to avoid the spring frost period. In mid-May there was a heat wave with temperatures up to 30ºC, making it one of the driest May months in the last decade. June and July were characterized by intense heat waves, with no rain, making them the warmest months since records have been kept. Harvest began in early September.

HARVEST:

100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) mostly from very old vines - aged between 40 and 80 years - from vineyards in nine different municipalities in the Burgos and Valladolid riversides.

The grapes are harvested by hand, in small boxes of 15 kilos that are carefully inspected, cluster by cluster, on the sorting table.

TASTING NOTE:

Aalto 2022 presents an elegant purple color in the glass.

The nose expresses the aromatic potential of the tinta fina with its red fruits and hints of licorice. The barrel aging gives it spicy notes on the nose and a silky touch with good acidity on the palate, inviting us to have another glass.
