Madrid on the palate

Talking about Casa Santoña inevitably means thinking about delicious anchovies of double zero caliber. Delicate, soft and silky. A highly valued gourmet product that is a real delight.

The origin of Casa Santoña is closely linked to this delicatessen product. In addition to its presence in the restaurant industry, it has its own anchovy factory in the mountains of Madrid, specifically in the town of Guadarrama. A family business. A beautiful story that has been passed on to the new generations of the Searle family.

The first restaurant of Casa Santoña opened its doors in 2008 in the area of El Retiro, in Avenida de Nazaret number 10. In addition, they also have another restaurant located in Los Molinos, a small town in the mountains of Madrid. Seafood products, elaborated in an artisan way and a wide gastronomic offer in which the raw material takes an unquestionable protagonism. No frills. No frills. Good product elaborated with affection to enjoy it as in the past.

On this occasion, we started with a salmorejo with ham shavings that captivated us with its creaminess and intense flavor, which gave way to its mythical anchovies accompanied by anchovies, commonly known as "marriage". A true luxury difficult to find.

The tuna tartar of Casa Santoña was a pleasant surprise as well as the steak tartar, demonstrating that in spite of its fame for charcoal-grilled meats and grilled fish, Casa Santoña has been able to adapt to new trends by incorporating dishes that are in great demand nowadays. It is necessary to emphasize the spectacular grilled artichokes of Casa Santoña to which they grant an own seal. Crowned with a mince of anchovies, they are a light and healthy dish but brimming with flavor. An authentic delight.

Next, we enjoyed the taste of a tasty grilled lemon fish and some incredible lamb sweetbreads. Crispy, tasty and not greasy at all. Delicacy in its purest form.

Casa Santoña is an example of a family restaurant. The dream of its founder, Carlos Searle, made reality and today is managed by his children: Carlos, Ricardo and Sara, always emphasizing the quality of the product. Incredible anchovies and much more...
